Pets

Pets (dogs and cats) may be taken on board by passengers for a charge. See below for details.

 

  • Pets must be placed in cages in the Pet Room. The Pet Room is kept at a room temperature of 24 °C.
  • Pet fares and the types of cages are listed below.

Cage measuring 60 linear cm or more on one or more sides

Cage measuring less than 60 linear cm on one or more sides

  • Some passengers are annoyed by barking dogs, have allergies to certain animals, or simply dislike animals. Passengers are strictly prohibited from bringing pets into rooms or public spaces while the ship is sailing.
  • Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.
  • If a pet fouls any part of the ship, the pet owner must pay all necessary charges to restore the area to its original condition.
  • Pets other than dogs and cats are transported as cargo. Arrangements must be made in advance by contacting the Shibaura Cargo Receiving Office at Ogasawara Kaiun (Tel.: 03-3455-0461). Please be aware that some pets cannot be transported.
  • Some pets may be classified as non-native species that can negatively impact the valuable natural environment of Ogasawara. Cats must be registered under the ordinances of Ogasawara Village. Dogs must be registered in compliance with Japan's Rabies Prevention Act. Birds, etc., must either be kept in cages or strictly controlled inside rooms to prevent them from escaping.
